Labcraft low voltage fluorescent lights

12V fluorescent lighting is an energy efficient alternative to tungsten filament bulbs. It consumes less than a quarter of the energy for the same amount of light! Thus, a 15W fluorescent light would give you a brighter light than a 60W conventional bulb.

Labcraft have been manufacturing low voltage fluorescent lights for over 40 years, so their units are reliable and well-built. The lights are designed to run from 12V or 24V lead-acid battery banks, making them ideal for installation in boats and caravans. By replacing inefficient filament lights with units such as these, you could save significant amounts of energy. If used in conjunction with solar panels or a wind turbine it could reduce, or even eliminate, the need to charge from an engine or generator. However, it is almost invariably cheaper to buy energy efficient appliances than to purchase solar panels or wind turbines, so we highly recommend you look at these lights as a first step if you're keen to reduce your energy consumption and your impact on the environment!
