The HRSi charge regulator is a hybrid controller that combines a Rutland windcharger voltage regulator with the capacity for up to 160 Watts input from solar panels in one device. The controller uses Pulse Width Modulation (PWM), with automatic voltage detection, so can be used on both 12 and 24 volt systems with either the 12V Rutland 503 wind turbine, the 12V Rutland 913 or the 24V Rutland 913.
As peak voltages for the batteries are reached, the HRSi controller gradually reduces the wind and solar input charge. In turn, this decreases the speed of the turbine to an eventual "idle" and thus extends the working life of the windcharger. As the battery discharges, the wind turbine responds by increasing speed to deliver more power. Solar power is also tapered in the same way.
Micro controllers and temperature compensation systems mean that your batteries remain optimally charged whatever the conditions, whilst the LED indicators keep you fully informed of the voltage and charging status.
