Why choose a wind turbine?
Wind turbines are a very cost effective means of producing power for low power needs where good wind resources exist.
Britain is a windy place. Around the coast in particular, small wind turbines can give a better return than solar panels for a given outlay. You should be careful about siting turbines however - they do benefit from a clean, unobstructed airflow. They may give disappointing results where used downwind of trees or buildings.
A wind turbine can be an ideal complement to a solar panel installation. Output in winter tends to be a little higher than in summer - which is when solar panels are giving less output.
