Warehouse Manager
We're looking for an energetic and efficient warehouse manager to join our team. If you're good at getting things done and would like an opportunity to join a growing company, we'd love to hear from you.

About us
Midsummer Energy started life when an environmental scientist threw in his day job and started selling solar panels from the front room of his narrowboat. We've grown through 4 ever-bigger warehouses since. Our current space is 5000sq ft and overflowing, and our focus now is mainly on the distribution of both grid-connected and off-grid solar PV kits – solar panels, inverters, mounting systems and accessories – to a network of installation customers.
We're still passionate about the environment, and we've gained a reputation for a helpful and open approach to business. The office is a friendly and informal place to work.
The Role
You will be processing a wide variety of orders from start to finish, as well as taking charge of the efficient running of the warehouse. We sell to both retail and trade customers, and orders vary from small ebay and web orders, to full solar panel kits for domestic and commercial buildings, including the occasional lorry-load of panels. You'll be responsible for gaining an overview of the day's orders, picking, checking and packing them, liaising with the office team to make sure they are booked with the correct courier and service and are labelled correctly, and finally, that they leave with the right one!
You will also work closely with the purchasers to manage stock levels, unload and put away inbound goods, as well as keeping the warehouse tidy and running smoothly. As we continue to grow the business – and a well-run warehouse should help with that – there is also the potential for the role to include managing a team.
What you'll get
- A friendly and fast-paced work environment
- £18-21K ( with significant warehouse or sales experience a higher salary may be negotiable)
- 25 days holiday per year plus bank holidays
- A varied daily work life, and insight into all the workings of a small business
- Opportunity for the role to grow and evolve with the business
The ideal candidate
You enjoy a challenge, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. You like to optimise processes, and enjoy a role that's occasionally physically demanding – solar panels are quite large, and pallets of them are heavy. You enjoy a dynamic work atmosphere, and have a friendly and easy-going manner with co-workers and customers – occasionally they collect orders and you will also sometimes need to answer phones during busy periods. You're happy to get involved with whatever needs doing, and eager to be part of helping a small company grow.
Prior experience of warehouse work and/or a forklift license would be an advantage but are not essential – initiative, enthusiasm and the right attitude are more important.
If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you. Please email a CV and cover letter marked for the attention of Jamie Vaux to jobs@midsummerenergy.co.uk before the 31st October. No agencies please.
